Mistfall Hunter Crossplay & Co-op Setup Guide
Updated July 28, 2026 · Crossplay and squad-size facts are now confirmed from the official July 17 launch press and June open beta. In-game UI labels may vary slightly in the live build — the four-step flow below is what the menus follow.
Mistfall Hunter shipped on PC, PS5 and Xbox Series X|S with crossplay — which matters more in an extraction game than almost any other genre, because the difference between solo-queueing and running a coordinated trio is the difference between donating loadouts and printing Gyldenmist. Here's how to get your cross-platform squad running in ten minutes, and what composition to run once you're in.

Setting Up a Cross-Platform Party, Step by Step
Step 1 — Everyone checks crossplay is ON
Settings → look for a Gameplay or Network/Social section → crossplay toggle. It's typically on by default. If any one member has it off, invites across platforms will silently fail — this is the #1 cause of "why can't I see his invite" at every crossplay launch.
Step 2 — Add friends with the in-game ID, not the platform list
Your PSN or Xbox friends list can't see PC players and vice versa. Crossplay games route around this with their own social layer:
- Open the in-game Social / Friends menu.
- Find your account ID or friend code (usually YourName#1234 format, shown at the top of the social screen or in account settings).
- Share IDs in your group chat; everyone sends/accepts requests in that menu.
If the game supports a publisher account link (an email-based account connecting all platforms), link it on every platform — it makes friend sync and any cross-progression features work properly.
Step 3 — Party up and verify before queueing
Party leader invites from the social menu; members accept the in-game notification (console players: the prompt is in the game's UI, not the system-level PSN/Xbox notification area — another classic point of confusion). Before you queue, confirm everyone shows in the lobby and do a voice check.
Step 4 — Voice: in-game for pickups, Discord for your real squad
In-game squad voice works and is fine for random teammates. For a regular cross-platform trio, Discord is flatly better: it survives game crashes, works in menus and queue, and PS5/Xbox both run it natively now. Extraction games are information games — your voice channel is a piece of equipment. Treat it like one.
The classic three-player squad facing a zone boss — exactly the formation this guide is built around.
Cross-progression: check before you grind
One warning before you sink 40 hours into a platform: crossplay ≠ cross-progression. Crossplay means you can matchmake together. Cross-progression — your stash, characters and unlocks traveling between your own PC and console — is a separate feature that usually requires the publisher account link and is sometimes not supported at all. If you plan to play on both PC and console, verify in settings → account before choosing where your main grind lives.
The Best 3-Player Squad Composition
Mistfall Hunter's zones are tuned around squads, and the composition that wins in every PvPvE extraction game wins here too:
| Slot | Confirmed class | Job in the raid |
|---|---|---|
| 1. Frontliner | Withered Knight (shield preferred) | Opens doors, holds chokes, eats monster aggro, dictates when fights start. |
| 2. Ranged damage | Blackarrow (bow / crossbow) | Deletes priority targets from the frontliner's shoulder, watches long sightlines. |
| 3. Support / utility | Seer (heals, buffs, crowd control) | Keeps the other two in the fight; sustain decides every engagement over 30 seconds. |
Alternative trio for veterans: Withered Knight + Mercenary + Sorcerer trades the Seer's sustain for raw damage and frontline depth — better in coordinated hands, worse when teammates panic.
Why Seer over a third damage dealer: in extraction PvP, fights between coordinated squads rarely end in the opening exchange. They end when one side runs out of health bars and consumables. A Seer converts your squad's consumable economy into a renewable resource. Three-DPS squads look scary and evaporate in extended fights — we've watched it happen for years across this genre.
Duo version: frontliner + ranged, both carrying extra sustain. Solo version: see the class guide — and accept that your real composition is you plus every monster you can aggro onto your enemies (techniques here).
Squad rules that prevent arguments
- Agree loot splits before dropping. Standard: weapons/armor to whoever uses them, currency and valuables split at stash, crafting items to whoever's crafting. Thirty seconds of agreement saves thirty minutes of resentment.
- Dead teammate's gear: decide the policy now — recover-and-return builds squads that last; finders-keepers builds squads that don't.
- One shot-caller for extract timing. Democracies die at the exit portal. When the caller says leave, everyone leaves — the fattest bag in the squad sets the risk tolerance, not the emptiest.
